Spring have extensive electronics design experience. Spring can take your concept, requirement or design specification and create the electronic circuit design to meet your exact requirements. We do this in-house using electronic schematic design software. If required, the design can be simulated or prototyped as a proof of concept. The proven circuit can then be made into a full schematic for PCB layout.

All PCBs are designed and laid out in Spring’s PCB CAD software to fit the physical requirements. Spring regularly design multilayer boards, surface mount, double sided or custom shapes for new customers and new products. These PCB designs can then be used to export DXF outputs for mechanical design, PCB mounting, enclosure fitting and modification or full enclosure design. Spring also take the CAM output data to configure the surface mount placement machines. We can obtain the blank prototype PCBs and complete surface mount assembly with a turnaround time of 10 days if required.

Spring excel in the design of small, intelligent embedded products. Typically using ARM micro-controllers these designs can include USB, ethernet, RS485 or CANBUS serial communications.

Designs can be verified against Customer Acceptance Test Specification or against the original Requirements Specification. 

Spring can take your old through-hole design and convert it to a surface mount design suitable for fast, efficient, automated and much lower cost manufacture by a surface mount production line. We can also update older surface mount designs in 0805 and SOIC to smaller more modern package sizes such as 0402 and BGA or QFP. We can then take these new designs into manufacture for you.

Spring can take your old microprocessor or old micro-controller designs and convert them to smaller, modern, more cost-effective and more powerful micro-controllers such as ARM. Older special function chips can be replaced by micro-controllers or modern electronic parts. Difficult to source parts or designs based on obsolete components can be redesigned so that the item can still be manufactured but using lower cost surface mount techniques or incorporating enhanced features and functionality.

For products designed and manufactured by Spring, we can help with either your product documentation and/or marketing material. We can:

• Design logos, overlays, and labels, and advise on visual appearance or presentation.
• Design and supply customised product packaging that is branded to either your company or product requirements.
• Design, write and illustrate your product user manual or user documentation.
• Produce promotional material such as videos, leaflets or adverts suitable for printing or use online.
• Produce animated product manuals or instruction videos to help explain product operation.

For products designed and manufactured by Spring, we can supply a complete product manual, including the layout, copy and illustrations. We can also organise printed copies and/or PDF versions for use online.

Spring have a full in-house surface mount assembly capability. Our assembly line incorporates semi-automatic solder screen, automatic placement, and a high quality vapour phase oven for perfect placement and solder joint execution. We produce circuit boards for many applications including motor control, security systems, access control, metal detection, the electricity distribution industry, and the instrumentation and control industries.

Although most new designs use the highest ratio of surface mount components possible to reduce assembly cost, there is still the need to use through-hole devices with larger power components, older designs, or for greater ruggedness. Spring have extensive experience of fitting and soldering through-hole components across a range of industries.

For all products manufactured by Spring, we can complete microscope viewer inspection of all surface mount assemblies to check both solder joint quality and placement accuracy. We offer a range of inspection and test services including functional test or key functional measurements. We will work to the customer’s specified test regime and provide documented test results as required. If required, all items can be shipped with a test/inspection certificate and certificate of conformity.

Spring can provide a complete end to end box build assembly, covering purchasing, PCB assembly, wiring, CNC enclosure machining, general product assembly, functional test, serialisation, packing and shipping.

Spring IoT is a branch of Spring (Europe) Ltd. As such it can offer rapid manufacture of surface mount PCBs on our in-house surface mount line. Designs can be manufactured from gerber to board in as little as 2-3 weeks.

Spring have extensive experience in the design and CNC machining of plastic parts. These include plastic sheet such as ABS, polypropylene and acrylic, and ABS and polycarbonate enclosures and cases.

Spring have been manufacturing audio, power and ferrite transformers for over forty years. Whether you require a small batch of a custom design or medium to large volume production of a custom transformer, we can help. The transformer and coil types we manufacture include: metal detection search coils, ETD (and similar) ferrites, small mu-metal audio transformers, M6 grain oriented matching transformers and RM style ferrite transformers as well as many others. We also supply a number of toroidal core inductors for power and audio applications. We have Far East partners to assist in extremely high volume orders of transformers, coils and toroids.
